May 24th, 2010 Posted in FUN | Comments OffI really like the way cognitive media is using white board illustrations to display information. The videos are really cool and it really helps the mind to digest very deep issues in an easy way. You can check them out http://cognitivemedia.co.uk/

May 20th, 2010 Posted in FUN | Comments OffLast Saturday I volunteered to do free face painting for a Christian community event. It was great. I painted for 5 hours straight with no breaks! Once a line forms you have to keep going until the event ends and just like the year before our booth was the last to close up. We were literally the last people to walk off the grounds, and I painted right up until the moment we threw everything into the car and drove off!
I look forward to doing this every year if I can because it’s such a precious opportunity to , “Do it until the end.” My teacher and my church’s founder has always told us that you must do it until the end. I was told that in the past when he would visit America that people would line up to speak with him one on one and that he would stay up all night trying to meet with and council each person. It’s very tiring but very important work. Towards the end people would suggest that the rest of those still waiting be turned away but he always insisted on meeting each person. The people at the end of the line are sometimes the most important. I realized the truth of these words as I was painting.
Towards the end there were some close friends of mine who were too shy to ask for face painting or didn’t want to be a burden. Even if they gave me excuses I could tell they really wanted to get their face painted so I insisted that they take a seat on my stool. Jesus made each of them so beautiful, but often girls do not feel that. Face painting is great because it really does make someone’s face shine for the day. But if you paint 100 girls and do not paint the one who really wanted to receive one then they will feel left out. Even if it was tiring I was happy and left without regrets because I knew Jesus did not want to let not one person down. Truly he loves us and wants to see us shine!
Which is better? Painting Art with clean lines or keeping the original sketch lines?
May 18th, 2010 Posted in FUN | Comments OffHere are two different versions of the same art as well as the original sketch. Personally I hate cleaning up my linework. The orginal lines always have so much more life and they allow you to see more of the process through which the art about. But cleaning up the lines always makes for more polished work. Which version do you like better? ~ SM
Greatest Love Animation I’ve ever seen
May 17th, 2010 Posted in FUN | Comments Off“What is Love?” is the English name of this film. It’s simply the best well done animation I’ve ever seen. I used to show this to every one of my art classes to show them how story, timing, editing, composition, emotion, and simplicity of design can all work together to produce a short but powerful experience. I learn something new about film making every time I watch it.
